“Ideas have consequences” is an axiom Dr. R.C. Sproul used in his book, The Consequences of Ideas, about philosophy and its effect on human endeavor. When I first encountered this idea it stopped me in my tracks and since that first encounter I’ve pondered it often. What ideas do I have? How have they “fallen out” in my life journey?
I believe there is a God who has made everything that exists, including me. I believe He has revealed Himself to mankind in the Holy Bible and in the Person of His Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Because I believe these things, other ideas follow that influence how I live. I believe the Bible (God’s Word to me) requires me to love and practice truth and beauty. God expects me to treasure and focus on what is lovely and good.
Our world so full of sin, ugliness and depravity, needs to be given what is true, what is beautiful, what is lovely. Because I want to be a faithful servant of Jesus I want to make and embrace the true, beautiful, lovely adding my “artistic drops of water” to the ocean of human experience to bring more beauty and truth to the world. I hope you will join me in this journey.
